I had the gastric sleeve surgery on May 23rd 2008 at the clinic and I have been so pleased I wish this surgery would have been available 10 years ago. It all started when my doctor wanted to increase my blood pressure medicine to 3 pills a day and my cholesterol medicine as well, I started a life style change or so I thought and started doing weight watchers I lost 21 lbs but soon after I stopped and then I gained 40 back, same thing with Nutrisytem I lost 25 lbs almost immediately but it became so costly and I still needed to cook for my family. I gained another 20 lbs. I heard about the clinic from some friends of mine that had been there and had the band surgery they all had done very well but I did my research and found that the band was not what I was looking for mainly because my insurance would not pay and I could not afford the fills that needed to be done every few months
I decided to have the sleeve: I made all the arrangement filled out the forms and spoke directly with Dr. Gilberto with all of the concerns I had, He was great explaining every thing I needed to know. My husband and I flew to San Diego on a Thursday evening and was meet by the coordinator at the airport we left there and went to get something to eat as my surgery was not scheduled until Friday evening. We checked in at the clinic everyone was so nice we met all the Doctors and staff, they explained the procedure and showed us around, I had my surgery as scheduled Friday evening everything went great I got back to my room and on Saturday morning I got up took a shower walked around I was a little weak but felt great, the other 2 days went well I went outside and sit in the courtyard with my husband and another patient that was there having the same surgery and her family. Tuesday morning Dr. Gilberto came in and told me to go home gave me some information on my planned meals for the next few weeks checked me over and away we went. I was very pleased with everything even my husband was impressed by the way we were treated after all we where in another Country! I would recommend this type surgery for people who have struggled with their weight and health problems it has been a blessing for me. The night I checked into the Clinic I weighed in at 251 lbs, today almost 2 years later I weigh 136 lbs I am a size 8 my health is excellent no more blood pressure or cholesterol medicine I barely ever take an aspirin. I look great and feel great my friends and even 2 daughters cannot believe how good I have done. I believe the key to my success is I followed the Doctors plan for 4 weeks and then used common sense I exercised mainly walking and that was my key to a success story.
