I am writing to let you know of my expericence with the lap-band surgery in Mexico, first let me say I had to be the one of the most scared and skeptical people that miguel and Luis had to deal with, I know I myself asked about 1000 questions and that is not including the many many that my wife had to ask herself.
This was a new experice for us in many ways, neither one of us had ever flown and this just added to our worries, however the flights were fine and I have to say that I was truly at ease when I was coming down the stairs and seen the smiling face of this little Mexican man standing at the bottom waiting for us.
To me we had become friends before we even had met, I could tell that he was honestly concerned with all my questions and was a truly caring person, once we found our luggage that Delta had lost (after many calls to them from miguel) we met Luis outside and were on our way. They then drove us to Tijuana to have my my "last meal" lol still not sure what they were I ate but I know they had pork in them and they were GREAT!! we stood outside a taco stand for about 45 mins just chatting and eating and getting to know one another, they then took us to our hotel where we slept about 3 hours and then got a phone call from miguel letting us know it was time to go, we went to the hospital, Bajanor Medical Center to get my blood tests, the hospital was very clean and although it was nothing fancy I truly felt at ease, I met the owner of the hospital Dr. Miguel (spelling?) and if anyone could be considered close to as caring or considerate as miguel, then this would be the one, we talked many times during my stay and he was very kind and caring, then we went to get my chest x-ray and then back to the hospital, I remember going into the operating room and then I was out, when I woke up Dr. Miguel was telling my wife I was not in pain and that everything was good, we stayed that night in the hospital and then decided to fly to Vegas for the next 2 days, so miguel got online found us a flight , They dropped us off on the "American streets" and we did some shopping for an hour or so, I was kind of sore but nothing too bad, we then began our trip to the airport, and wouldnt you know the border was backed up for about and hour and a half understandable as it was the 1st of the month, but truly this was the time we enjoyed the most.
We were not treated as customers or patients but we really felt like old friends, miguel and Luis dropped us off at the airport and we said our goodbyes, we were off to VEGAS!!! well me just having surgery I didn't think I would be able but we stayed up many many hours and walked and walked and walked some more, when we finally got to our air port I slept most of the way home, then is when I started feeling a little sick, I could not keep anything down at all, so we called miguel and he called the Dr. which relayed some instructions for me thru miguel and to Call him back tomorrow, I did and was still feeling bad, miguel then called the Dr. again and they were very concerned for my well-being, I was waiting for miguel to return my call when my wife fixed me some hot tea, well I tried it and it went down easily and I have yet to look back, I am 8 days post op and have lost 29 lbs and I feel better than I have in years.
In closing I will tell you that Dr. is a great surgeon, however I would rather have an average surgeon and a Great Coordinater because the Coordinater is the one that you will spend all your time with, miguel is great and I would Highly recommend him and his group to anyone, in fact I am working now on getting my sister to give him a call, you will not be disappointed!!
